Public Invited to Community Health Fair in New Market on August 17
FREDERICK, Md. –The Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence will be connecting individuals to free community resources at the New Market Community Health Fair on August 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Market Grange No. 362, 14 South Alley, New Market, MD 21774.
“We’re committed to making essential services easier to reach,” said Joy Rowe, Department Head with Resource and Service Navigation. “By bringing support directly into neighborhoods, we’re ensuring residents can access what they need without barriers.”
At the New Market Grange No. 362 Community Health Fair, attendees can access:
- Health screenings such as blood pressure, A1C for the first 40 participants (fasting not required), and cognitive health checks
- The Lions Club 22W Mobile Screening Unit will offer vision and hearing screenings (no prescriptions) for individuals
- Application assistance for programs like Meals on Wheels, financial help, and Medicare guidance
- Information on energy assistance and home repair programs
- Support for veterans, families, and people with disabilities
- Free lunch and a bag of groceries for the first 25 participants
The Division of Aging and Independence is bringing these essential services and resources directly to the community through their “Move Mobile.” The Move Mobile is a former ambulance that has been redesigned and equipped with iPads, Wi-Fi, and mobile scanning capabilities that allow staff to perform health screenings, help with applications for support programs, and provide resources.
Also attending the event will be community partners including Frederick Health, the Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, Frederick County Fire and Rescue, Transit Services, the Division of Energy and Environment, Office of Home Energy, and Power Saver Retrofits.
